Code Blocks For Mac Big Sur

  • Apple helps you keep your Mac secure with software updates. The best way to keep your Mac secure is to run the latest software. When new updates are available, macOS sends you a notification — or you can opt in to have updates installed automatically when your Mac is not in use. MacOS checks for new updates every day and starts applying them in the background, so it’s easier and faster.
  • Code Blocks is an open source, free, C, C and Fortran IDE cross-platform that provides a ton of options. It is a no-cost CIDE created with for users who have high demands. Those behind this free software program designed it for extensive user customization and maximum flexibility.

Hi I’ve started to use codeblocks on MBP (Big Sur lasted, Intel). I’m at the very first step “hello world”. I’m not able to type a syntax more than 2 lines. When I type a syntax on 2nd line, a small grey block/square pops up and covers the line that I’m typing out. Anybody knows how to fix it?

macOS Catalina introduced a change that affects older versions of Typinator. Specifically, Typinator versions older than 8.2 refuse to launch on Catalina and newer. To ensure smooth transition, we therefore strongly recommend to update Typinator to the latest version before upgrading macOS to Catalina or Big Sur.

For more information, please see our compatibility page.

If you don't own a license for Typinator 8 yet, you may purchase a license update at 50% off the regular price. If you purchase a license update now, all further minor 8.x updates are included for free.

With a new statistics mode, magic keys, integrated menu bar and many more improvements, Typinator 8 is the best text expander in town.

Typinator 8 comes with a long list of new features and improvements, which make Typinator 8 the best text expander ever.

Typinator 8 offers a new statistics mode, where you can see the usage counts for abbreviations and sets, and how long ago an abbreviation has been used most recently. You can also sort your snippets by these values, to see which abbreviations you are using frequently and which ones you may have forgotten about.

Another great new feature of Typinator 8 are Magic Keys. You can now use the modifier keys Shift, Control, Option, and Command in abbreviations, as if they were real characters. This allows you to use them as special trigger characters and offers a simple way to avoid conflicts in abbreviations.

A very slick user interface enhancement is the new 'mini menu bar' right above the expansion field, where you can find all markers and editing functions in one central place. A nice side-effect of this improvement is that the expansion field is now wider and you have more space to enter your expansions.

New is also the integration with PopChar. With PopChar 8.2 or newer installed, you can now use Typinator to search for and insert arbitrary Unicode characters by their name or Unicode number. In combination with a hotkey for Typinator's quick search, this is a great way to type arbitrary Unicode characters without taking your hands off the keyboard.

See the features page on for a short description of the most important new features and improvements. For a complete list of all the improvements in Typinator 8, please see the version history.

During the past, we could welcome many former TextExpander customers who switched to Typinator because they were unsatisfied with TextExpander and wanted a more robust and speedier solution.

Since more and more TextExpander users are now switching to Typinator, we have create a special page with helpful information for seamless migration from TextExpander to Typinator.

With Typinator 8, migration from TextExpander became even easier, as Typinator now comes with an improved import function for existing TextExpander snippets.

Read testimonials about the switching experience of former TextExpander users.

It is lightweight and reliable, and the new feature that allows users to share ‘.tysets’ has opened up even more possibilities for how we use this powerful utility at MacUpdate.

Having trouble getting integers larger than 64 bits to work in C++? So was I. Here’s how I fixed it:

  1. You’ll want to use the data type cpp_int provided by Boost C++ Libraries.
    1. Go here and download the zip: http://sourceforge.net/projects/boost/files/boost/1.56.0/
    2. Unzip into a forever home. (You’ll probably want this again sometime, so don’t just stick it in your project folder and forget about it.)
  2. Code::Blocks needs some priming before you can use Boost:
    1. With your project open, choose: Project->Build Options….
    2. Select the Search Directories tab.
    3. Use the Add button at the bottom to add the path to your new Boost directory. This needs to be the directory that was created when you extracted the zip file. (In my case, I added /Users/jmatthewturner/C++/Boost/boost_1_56_0.)
  3. And your project file needs some special code:
    1. Add an #include for the cpp_int.hpp file that is inside boost/multiprecision/. Mine looks like this:

Now you can use the data type cpp_int, which is an arbitrarily large integer, limited only by the memory available on your machine. It is part of the namespace boost::multiprecision, so always refer to it like this:

or define a namespace to make your life a little easier:

…etc, etc. And that should do it. I used cpp_int to help solve Project Euler #20; I’ll post the source code when I get around to writing up the problem.
